Community Event Session 4: Human Planet Intelligence and Partnership for Better Population and Settlement Policies
Objectives
The session Human Planet Intelligence and Partnership for Better Population and Settlement Policies brings together two interconnected themes, integrated Earth Observation solutions and progress in geospatial population data. The aim is to advance the integration of Earth Observation (EO) solutions and geospatial intelligence to address complex challenges in the domain of disaster resilience, climate and urbanization, and population and health by:
Showcasing Integrated EO Solutions: EO value-added products from Copernicus and applications developed under the Human Planet Initiative (GHP) and POPGRID Data Collaborative to address global challenges;
Enhancing Collaboration Across Sectors: Foster partnerships between diverse stakeholders, including GEO Member Countries, private sector entities, NGOs, statistical agencies, and community groups, to bridge gaps between EO data producers and end-users.
Knowledge Brokerage and filling data gaps: Promote the GHP as a platform for connecting research, projects (i.e. Space for Early Warning), services (e.g., Copernicus Thematic Hubs), and policymakers while innovating the way spatial data and statistics change to understand how communities are growing, shifting, and interacting with their environments across the globe.
