Global Observation System for Mercury
GOS4MFlagshipDevelops global systems for monitoring mercury pollution and supporting policy frameworks.
One Health is an interdisciplinary approach that addresses global health challenges by recognising the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. It promotes cross-sector collaboration to improve decision-making and interventions.
GEO supports this by providing environmental intelligence through Earth observations, enhancing the prediction, management, and prevention of health impacts linked to animals and the environment, and enabling more effective, integrated responses.
Through activities such as Global Observation System for Mercury, DigiGEO Wildfire-Health Nexus and the Earth Observations for Health Community of Practice, GEO’s One Health approach enables:
Develops global systems for monitoring mercury pollution and supporting policy frameworks.
Applies Earth observations to improve global health outcomes.
The project has established a research framework of “observation-simulation-prediction-decision” for fire risk identification, evolution analysis, and emergency decision-making methods.
This work aligns with:
GEO will continue integrating Earth Intelligence with health data, advancing AI-driven analytics and fostering partnerships to address the complex challenges of human and environmental health in a changing world.
Maps human presence to inform sustainable development strategies.
Innovative service using Earth Intelligence to identify heat risks, support cooling strategies and enhance resilience in urban areas.
Focuses on ocean and coastal observations to support sustainable use.
Strengthens Earth observation capacities across the region.
GEO-IA contributes to a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable approach to Earth observation initiatives that benefit Indigenous communities, the scientific community, and global efforts to harmoniously coexist with our planet.
An step toward realizing the massive untapped potential for GEO and GEO Youth to mutually benefit from critical, deliberate engagement with one another.
An international community focused on the value and socioeconomic impacts of geospatial information for decision-making
Advancing and operationalizing Digital Earth, at an initial stage, through the Earth Observation (EO) Data Cubes efforts, with a focus on implementing global principles in local contexts
Leverages Earth observations to support achievement of the SDGs.
