EO Risk Toolkit Information session

This side event is a dedicated session on Earth Observations (EO) Risk Toolkit which is co-developed by GEO DRR Working Group, in collaboration with United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and with technical support from Esri. The Toolkit is an integral part of UNDRR’s Risk Information Exchange (RiX), and itprovides users with direct access to open source EO tools, services and methodologies, as well as technical guidance, to fill knowledge gaps on hazards, vulnerabilities and exposure at country level.

The session is designed to present the latest contents of the Toolkit to collect feedbacks, including opportunities for coordination and collaboration with the GEO Community. Meanwhile, the session presents the role of EO for DRR in the context of the Global Assessment Report (GAR) in DRR 2022, the latest flagship report by UNDRR (see a related blog). Panel discussion is participated by the Sendai Framework National Focal Point of Ghana (the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO)), University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) in Ghana, and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) to represent a GEO member country and a GEO Participating Organization.
