Find GEO at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction
Where to find GEO

The Group on Earth Observations will be at Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) in Geneva from 2-6 June.

Visit us at the GEO Booth at the Innovation Platform (next to Pacific Community-SPC/Digital Earth Pacific) to learn more about the Global Heat Resilience Service, our TEC-GEO policy brief on Early Warnings for All, GEOGLAM and more.

From policy guidance to city partnerships, we’ll be there to connect and collaborate.

Throughout GPDRR, the GEO community will be contributing to key sessions driving innovation in disaster risk reduction.

Where to find us during the week

On 2 June at 2.15 pm, we will highlight the role of Earth Intelligence in fragile settings with insights from Dr Charles Balagizi from the Geohazard Supersites and Natural Laboratories GEO flagship initiative.

Then at 4.45pm, we explore innovation in multi-hazard early warning with perspectives from GEOGLAM through Dr Inbal Becker-Reshef, the Maldives through Thibyan Ibrahim and Community Mappers through Sally Sampson.

On 4 June at 10.30am, there will be a high-level dialogue on how scaling up reliable, standardised risk data can cut disaster losses and help deliver on the Sendai Framework and SDGs.

On 5 June, Juli Trtanj from the GEO Health Community of Practice (EO4Health) will moderate a special session on extreme heat risk governance.

Catch Martyn Clark on the Ignite Stage on 5 June from 4.45-5pm for a vital presentation about the Global Heat Resilience Service.

Thibyan Ibrahim and Dr Charles Balagizi will also speak on 6 June at a Learning Lab session on people-centred and gender-responsive approaches organised by the Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) Initiative.

GEO Youth will also have their powerful ideas showcased through posters on early warning innovations.

Not going to be in Geneva? No problem. Stay up to date with the live stream.
