Statement of Plan4all

Plan4all is a Participating Organization in the GEO community, with a mission centered around applying open geospatial technologies, Earth Observation (EO), and artificial intelligence to tackle pressing societal and environmental challenges.

In recent years, Plan4all has placed a strong emphasis on GeoAI — leveraging machine learning and AI methods on top of EO and geospatial data to support evidence-based decisions. We view GeoAI as a key enabler of the next generation of services for rural development, agriculture, urban planning, climate resilience, and biodiversity monitoring.

Alongside our work in rural innovation and smart planning, biodiversity protection has become a strategic focus for Plan4all. We are proud to contribute to the BioClima EU–China collaboration project, which facilitates knowledge exchange and co-development of EO-based solutions for climate and biodiversity challenges. This international partnership strengthens our alignment with the GEO Biodiversity Observation Network (GEO BON), where our activities support the creation of actionable biodiversity intelligence. In addition, Plan4all will employ the KijaniSpace platform (https://www.kijanispace.eu/) to deliver Earth-observation analytics that reinforce the GEO Global Agricultural Monitoring (GEOGLAM) initiative and its Crop Monitor, thereby contributing to enhanced market transparency and global food-security decision-making within the GEO framework.

Through initiatives such as PoliRuralPlus, Plus Change, Agri-Digital Growth, KijaniSpace, and the Hub4Everybody platform, we are making Earth-Intelligence and GeoAI tools accessible and reusable. These assets integrate heterogeneous data sources, derive actionable knowledge from large-scale EO datasets, and empower public authorities, researchers, and citizens to co-design data-driven policies that support sustainability and ecosystem stewardship.

Plan4all promotes open innovation ecosystems, combining FAIR data principles, OGC API standards, and collaborative experimentation. We actively organize hackathons and open calls that bring together developers, data scientists, and domain experts to build AI-enabled applications using EO data.

We reaffirm our support for the GEO vision and look forward to contributing to shared efforts in advancing digital public goods, climate adaptation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable land management through GeoAI and open geospatial science.
