  • GEO Secretariat welcomes new Climate and Biodiversity Coordinator

We are thrilled to welcome David Patterson to the GEO Secretariat as our Climate and Biodiversity Coordinator. In this role, David will lead the coordination of the Global Ecosystems Atlas initiative.

David brings extensive expertise as a conservationist specialising in geospatial data applications. Prior to joining GEO, he served as the Head of Conservation Intelligence at WWF-UK, where he played a pivotal role in developing WWF-SIGHT, a global mapping platform. David’s work spanned traditional conservation-focused spatial assessments as well as innovative approaches in nature finance. He led a team that created groundbreaking methodologies and data products for the financial sector, enhancing climate and environmental insights from the asset to portfolio level.

David holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge and previously worked with New Zealand’s Department of Conservation.

We are excited to have David on board and look forward to the impact he will make in advancing our mission.
