Be a part of the celebration: 20 years of GEO
2025 marks 20 years since GEO was founded. Over the past two decades, GEO has grown into a dynamic global partnership, advancing Earth Intelligence and helping to shape the future for people and the planet.
Now, as we reflect on this milestone, we need your help to tell GEO’s story.
Share your memories of GEO – it only takes a couple of minutes
We are kindly asking everyone to contribute a memory to the GEO Memories portal, developed with support from Esri. It’s quick and easy. Just add a short note about an event, achievement or collaboration that has stuck with you, along with a photo and location.
These memories will play a key role in how we celebrate 20 years of GEO, but the story is only as powerful as the contributions we receive. Please take a moment to add yours.

Write for the GEO blog – your voice matters
We are also calling on you to contribute to our anniversary blog series. The world is watching, and what we say about GEO’s story and impact over the last 20 years depends on what you share.
Choose from one of two themes:
20 years of data: How the world has changed. How has data helped us understand global change? Share key datasets, insights and visualisations.
Then and now. Thoughts and reflections on how Earth observations and GEO have evolved. Where did we begin, where are we now, what’s next?
Blogs should be no more than 400 words, informal but professional, and avoid excessive jargon. Send your ideas, drafts and questions to mcrook.ext@geosec.org
This anniversary is about all of us – our work, our collaborations, our impact. Help us make it special by contributing your story.
Looking forward to celebrating 20 years of GEO together.
