Statement from Ghana GEO at the GEO Week 2023, GEO-19 Plenary and Ministerial Summit 2023;

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed colleagues, and distinguished delegates,

I am honored to represent Ghana at this annual Group on Earth Observations (GEO) conference, a platform where nations unite to harness the power of Earth observation for the benefit of all. Our participation in GEO has been instrumental in advancing our understanding of the Earth and its complex systems, while simultaneously aligning with GEO's global vision.

Ghana recognizes the profound impact of Earth observation on numerous sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, disaster management, and environmental conservation. Through our involvement with GEO, we have embarked on an exciting journey, capitalizing on the invaluable contributions and vast global network that this organization offers. Our participation in GEO reflects our unwavering commitment to harnessing Earth observation technologies for the greater good.

One of our notable achievements is the development of the GEO document, which we've enthusiastically shared with relevant stakeholders. This document serves as a foundational blueprint for aligning our national aspirations with GEO's broader vision. It outlines our commitment to harnessing Earth observation data for enhancing our understanding of the environment and addressing local and global challenges.

Furthermore, our involvement with GEO has catalyzed innovative partnerships, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building initiatives. These collaborations are paving the way for fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making within our nation. We firmly believe that through the democratization of Earth observation data and tools, we can better address the pressing issues of our time, such as climate change, environmental degradation, and food security.

Ghana's contribution to GEO is not only about our own development but also our dedication to enhancing the lives and livelihoods of people globally. Our participation exemplifies our commitment to GEO's core mission: to unlock the full potential of Earth observations to build a sustainable and equitable future.

As we gather here, we are inspired by the remarkable achievements of our global partners, whose dedication to GEO's mission is nothing short of transformative. We commend the collaborative spirit that drives GEO's global community, fostering cooperation that transcends borders and boundaries.

In conclusion, Ghana is proud to be a part of the GEO family, contributing to the advancement of Earth observation and playing our part in the quest for a more sustainable and equitable world. We look forward to further collaboration, knowledge exchange, and shared successes in our collective journey toward a better future, driven by Earth observations.

Thank you, and may this conference be a beacon of inspiration for us all.
