Important:

  • The registration deadline is 30th of June 2024.
  • The GEO Symposium and ODOK Workshop will be an in person event in China. Some sessions will be live streamed, but there will be no possibility for interaction. Details where to follow the live stream will be made available on the event's website.

How to Get There

  • Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, about 67 kilometres by taxi to the conference venue, cost about 270 RMB​ (37 USD)

  • Hangzhou East Railway Station, about 37 kilometres away from the conference venue, and the cost by taxi is about 150 RMB (21 USD)

  • Hangzhou Railway Station, about 36 kilometres to the conference venue, with a cost by taxi is approximately 140 RMB (20 USD)

  • Hangzhou West Railway Station, about 12 kilometres away from the conference venue, and the cost by taxi is about 50 RMB (7 USD)

Payment

Mobile payment:

China is pretty much a cashless society. Paying by the mobile phone is most accepted method. To pay with your mobile phone, services such as Alipay, Weixin (Wechat) Pay and UnionPay are available. You can download the apps from your app store, add you bank card in the application and use your phone to pay.

Bank Cards:

Bank cards issued in your home country/region can be accepted if logos of the card provider are displayed at the checkout counter.

Cash:

If you need cash, you can withdraw RMB cash with your bank card at an ATM with logos of the corresponding bank card organizations. You can also directly exchange at bank outlets with currency exchange signs, outlets of qualified financial institutions, or self-service kiosks. Please consult the staff for currencies available.

Internet access

  • WiFi is available in both the venue and the hotels.
  • Foreigners traveling to China can obtain internet services by purchasing Chinese internet cards or renting mobile WiFi devices near the consultation desk on the second floor of Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport.​

Networking Opportunities

  • The networking reception will be held at 18:00 on Tuesday 24 September after the closing session.
  • A youth networking breakfast will also take place on the the same place and the same day at 08:00.

Weather:

September is a warm month in Hangzhou, with a daily mean temperature of 24°C or 75°F. However, it is also the typhoon season, so heavy rain and strong winds can be expected.

Shopping:
  • The Silk City, the biggest silk wholesale and retail market in the country is located at No.253 Xinhua Road (at the intersection of Fengqi Road, Tiyuchang Road, and Xinhua Road) You can get to the site by bus No.11 and 28.
  • If you are interested in tea culture and history, Meijiawu Village in West Lake District is the ideal spot where you can have a cup of tea, watch a tea ceremony, and select tea under professional guidance.
  • Yanan Road is the commercial centre of the city.
