GEO Invites Expressions of Interest from GEO Members to Host 2027 and 2028 Global GEO Events

The GEO Secretariat invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from GEO Member governments interested in hosting one of GEO’s upcoming global events:
- The 2027 GEO Global Forum and GEO-22 Plenary, anticipated to take place during the week of 24–28 May 2027 or 21–25 June 2027; or
- The 2028 GEO Symposium and GEO-23 Plenary, anticipated to take place during May or June 2028.
GEO’s global events bring together 350–600 participants from governments, international organizations, research institutions, space agencies, development partners, civil society, youth representatives, and the private sector. They provide a unique platform for international collaboration, knowledge exchange, partnership building, and strategic dialogue on Earth observations and Earth intelligence.
Hosting a GEO global event offers Members an opportunity to demonstrate leadership, showcase national capabilities and priorities, strengthen partnerships, and contribute to GEO’s mission of delivering Earth Intelligence for All.
The 2027 GEO Global Forum and GEO-22 Plenary will combine GEO’s international forum with its annual governance meeting, while the 2028 GEO Symposium and GEO-23 Plenary will focus on scientific, technical, policy, and partnership discussions across the GEO Work Programme alongside GEO’s annual Plenary.
EOIs are non-binding and intended to identify potential host countries. Following their submission, the GEO Secretariat will engage with interested Members to discuss hosting requirements and the development of formal proposals, which will subsequently be considered by GEO Members through GEO’s governance processes.
GEO Members are encouraged to consult and coordinate within their Regional GEO Caucuses before submitting an Expression of Interest.
EOIs should be submitted by 31 July 2026 to secretariat@geosec.org.
A preliminary information note outlining the events and key hosting considerations is available here.
