Youth Track: Panel discussion with young women in GIS

Women in GIS (WiGIS) Uganda is leading the organization of a panel discussion during the youth track at the GEO Week. The Panel for Young and Mid-career women in GIS/EO aims at;

  • Young women sharing their experiences in the use of GIS/EO and inspiring others
  • Highlighting key engagements by young women in GIS/EO around the world
  • Providing a platform for young women in GIS/EO to learn and connect while exploring opportunities for future engagement within the GEO network

The 1.5-hour hybrid session will be a moderated interactive discussion where speakers use their experiences to speak to a particular question that may be relevant for meeting the specific objectives we have set out

The panel will open with a keynote highlighting the roles, opportunities for young women in GIS/EO in addressing challenges at the local level. This will be followed by a video compilation of young women across the world highlighting how they are using GIS/EO in addressing local issues within their communities. This will be followed by a feedback session from the audience.

The session will be wrapped-up by one of the moderators summarizing key insights from the panelists and key recommendations for young women in GIS/EO
