One Health is an is a multidisciplinary, integrated, and unifying framework that recognizes the inextricable connection between human, animal, environment, and ecosystem health as critical to the viability of our societies and planetary habitability. Utilizing the One Health approach aims to develop integrated information systems that sustain engagement between scientists and decision-makers, provide pertinent and accessible environmental data for society, and improve the capacity to predict, respond to, and reduce environment-related health risks.

The GEO community, including GEO Work Programme activities, have been working on issues related to agriculture and food security, infectious diseases, water and air quality, heat, land sustainability, biodiversity science, disaster resilience, and energy. Recognizing the natural and anthropogenic changes of the Earth’s systems and impacts on public health, this session will explore how the One Health approach can help scientists and decision-makers share Earth observation data, tools, and technologies, to develop interdisciplinary solutions for global health issues addressing the human-animal-environment nexus.
