Jesarela López is an economist from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico. She has a specialty in social policy from the Iberoamerican University and the University of Chicago, as well as a Master's degree and a specialty in public policy in environment and energy from FLACSO, and has the international certification of the Program of Advanced Studies in Sustainable Development and Environment LEAD - Mexico coordinated by the. College of Mexico.
She has held various high-level positions in the Federal Government, in social policy, environment and currently at INEGI she is Director of Technical Coordination in the Vice Presidency of Geographic Information and Environment where she coordinates projects related to statistics on environment, climate change, energy and geospatial information. She currently participates in national and international working groups such as with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe for the generation of statistics on climate change and extreme events, in the UN Statistics Division for the topics of environment and climate change and ecosystem accounting, with ECLAC in projects on environmental statistics, risks and disasters, SDGs, and is Mexico's representative to the global and regional Group on Earth Observations in the Americas.
