Steven took on the role of Executive Officer for the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) in January 2024. CEOS is the primary forum for international coordination of space-based Earth observations working globally with space agencies and partners. Before this role, Steven was Chief Engagement Officer at the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Secretariat from 2016 – 2023.
Steven also runs Réseau Consulting, a management consulting firm based in the UK but working globally with the private sector and international organisations. He was an owner/director of 1Spatial for almost 10 years before taking on advisory roles for the United Nations and the World Bank, then he was Executive Director of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and Managing Director of Ordnance Survey International for several years.
He is currently on the Board of Directors of Climate Policy Radar in London, UK and the Advisory Board of GEO BON, the global biodiversity observation network. He spent several years on the board of Digital Earth Africa and the initial Steering Committee of Digital Earth Pacific and has been a Visiting Professor at the Institute for Future Cities, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and a SASNet Fellow at the Urban Big Data Centre at the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
