Robert Chen

Robert S. Chen is the director of CIESIN, the Center for International Earth Science Information Network of the Climate School at Columbia University in New York. He has managed the NASA Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC), one of NASA’s Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs), for more than two decades. Dr. Chen currently co-leads the GEO Human Planet Initiative and has played a lead role in GEO data-sharing activities since 2006. He also co-manages the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Data Distribution Center and co-chairs the Thematic Research Network on Data and Statistics (TReNDS) of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
