Phoebe Oduor has a background in Geospatial Engineering and Climate Change and Adaptation. She works for the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) based in Nairobi, as the Point of Contact for the AfriGEO secretariat, a regional GEO initiative. Her roles in this includes regional coordination of GEO and AfriGEO activities within Africa and engagement with the GEO secretariat and AfriGEO community. The overarching goal being the promotion of use Earth Observation data by Governments in decision making processes. Further, she leads the land use land cover mapping activities for the SERVIR Eastern and Southern Africa project. Her roles in this include support for capacity building needs, tools and data development that support sustainable land use and management. She is a gender champion and has supported several gender related activities for the institution including awareness creation and strategy development. She is a member of the GEO EDI subgroup and the DE Africa GEDSI Working Group. She is also an advisory board member for the EO Africa Research and Development Facility.
