Rob Deakin is the Manager of the Resilience and Climate Change work programme at Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), the national government geospatial agency, having previously led New Zealand’s work to develop a National Spatial Data Infrastructure.
Rob is the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Principal for New Zealand, and co-chair of the Asia-Oceania GEO task group on Disaster Resilience. He is also a serving member of the UN-GGIM working group on Geospatial Information and Services for Disasters and chaired its working group to develop a Statement of Shared Principles for the Management of Geospatial Information.
Prior to this Rob worked for over 20 years as a geospatial consultant on a wide range of multi-disciplinary studies which included projects in the Middle East, East Asia, the Caribbean, and South and North America. He played a leading role in developing the UK’s national flood and coastal erosion risk assessments, and its examination of the impacts of climate change on national flood risk.
