Joost Van Bemmelen

Joost van Bemmelen is working since 1997 at the European Space Agency in Italy. He is involved in activities related to management and exploitation of space-based Earth observation data. He was and is again active in the Copernicus programme, was responsible for development and operations of elements of ground and user segments for different satellites’ data including ESA Earth Explorers, Heritage Missions and Third Party Missions. He has a large interest in big data related technology development activities. Joost is involved  in GEO since more than 10 years. Before Joost joined ESA, he was involved in activities related to Geographical Information Systems at the Physics and Electronics Laboratory of the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research TNO in the Hague.
