GEO China Lead Co-Chair Representative; Researcher at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences Professor Xiaohan Liao is a distinguished expert in remote sensing and Earth observation, with extensive experience in international organizations and government roles. Dr. Liao has previously served as a researcher at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, Director-General of the National Remote Sensing Center of China. He has been deeply involved in GEO since its inception, leading and participating in numerous GEO meetings and international cooperation programs. Dr. Liao has played a key role in developing UAV remote sensing data platforms and has significantly contributed to the application of ultra-high-resolution remote sensing data. In recent years, his research has focused on UAV regional network remote sensing, low-altitude route planning, and developing and cataloging standards for UAV remote sensing big data platforms.
