Ms. Fathmath Usra works as an International Relations Officer at the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy in the Environmental Management and Conservation Department, where she is responsible for works related to the Multilateral Environmental Agreements. Her work is focused on advancing the Ministry’s objectives through global environmental diplomacy, strategic international collaborations, monitoring the implementation of the ratified conventions and effective resource mobilisation. Ms. Usra assists the efforts in securing funding and support from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), other international donors and bilateral development partners and is involved in developing project proposals to enhance environmental initiatives. Ms. Usra has represented Maldives at key international meetings and negotiations including UNFCCC, UNEA and Montreal Protocol. Ms. Usra also has previously worked at the National Centre for Cultural Heritage of Maldives. Ms. Usra completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and International Relations in the Maldives National University.
