Sunita Chaudhary is the Biodiversity Lead at International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). She is responsible for research, policy inputs, capacity building and advocacy of evidence-based policy, and contributes to the interface of science, policy and practice. She is also a member of the National Council of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Management, Prime Minister’s Office, Government of Nepal, and a lead author of IPBES nexus assessment. She is also a steering committee member of the Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment (GBMA), hosted by Universities of Bern and Lausanne, Switzerland. Dr Sunita is an established forester with around 15 years of experience on natural resources management in Australia, Austria, and Hindu Kush Himalaya. She has a PhD from Macquarie University, Australia; MSc in Management of Protected Areas, Austria; and a graduate leadership program from the University of Hawaii, USA. She was a visiting scholar at the Department of Geography, Cambridge University, United Kingdom. Her applied and interdisciplinary work focuses on human-nature interactions of terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region.
