Prof. DR. Ephrem Habyarimana, male, Italian national, is Principal Scientist – Sorghum breeding, Accelerated Crop Improvement Program at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, ICRISAT global headquarters, India. He leads ICRISAT’s research on sorghum breeding targeting Asian countries to improve productivity and income generation for the smallholders in the region. He is Professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Raichur, India. He has documented skills and expertise of more than 30 years in crop science, genetics and plant breeding with a particular focus on sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench], integrating diverse technologies and skills i.e., agroecological and genomic modelling, big data analytics e.g., phenomics, genomics for the sustainable, resilient, cost-effective, environment and biodiversity friendly crop improvement, and for optimizing the breeding program to deliver higher rates of genetic gains. He trained in North and Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe, supervised several MSc and PhD students, and authored several specialized scientific articles as documented under Scopus (id: ) and elsewhere e.g., and https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Ephrem-Habyarimana .
