Emma Goddard is the Manager for Urban Planning and Adaptation Integration at C40 Cities, which is a global network of nearly 100 mayors of the world’s leading cities that are united in action to confront the climate crisis. Mayors of C40 cities are committed to using an inclusive, science-based and collaborative approach to build healthy, equitable and resilient communities and cut their fair share of emissions in half by 2030. In her role, Emma provides integrated technical support to cities for mainstreaming climate resilience to heat, flood and water scarcity risks through urban planning.
Prior to joining C40, Emma spent three and a half years at built environment consultancy Arup. There she developed her technical expertise in urban planning for adaptation (and mitigation) through projects working for municipal authorities and international development institutions in the United Kingdom and abroad. She is experienced in advising local governments on how to translate local climate objectives and global best practices into ambitious planning policies.
Emma is an Associate of the Royal Town Planning Institute (AssocRTPI) and holds First-Class degrees from the London School of Economics (MSc Environment and Development) and the University of Oxford (BA Geography).
