Dr. George Ortsin is a development practitioner with a doctorate degree in Project Management working with the UNDP Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme in Ghana. He is the Country Program Coordinator with over 25 years of experience in community and international project management in climate mitigation and adaptation, circular and green economy, biodiversity conservation, wetlands ecosystem management and sustainable land management. He focuses on building the technical and financial capacities of rural smallholder farmers especially youth and women’s groups to invest in biodiversity conservation, sustainable restoration and utilization of wetlands resources, innovative climate-smart agroecology, chemicals, and waste management.
George also promotes innovations and knowledge exchange cross the country, replicating best practices in circular and green economy, wetland management and community investments in alternative livelihoods enterprises. He is also involved in supporting Indigenous/rural green social enterprises along the value chain. He supports practical training for natural resource practitioners, rural community resource managers, and civil society /community-based organisations involved in environmental resource management
