Igor Ogashawara got his B.Sc. degree in Geography from the São Paulo State University (UNESP), his M.Sc. degree in Remote Sensing from the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE) and his Ph.D. in Applied Earth Sciences from the Indiana University (IU) in the United States. He is now a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB). His research interests lie at the intersection of remote sensing and natural resources (particularly water resources).
In this role he supports the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) team by serving as co-chair of the Working Group on Observation and Data for the GEO AquaWatch where he is also member of the Management Team and the Director of the GEO AquaWatch Node on Calibration and Validation at IGB. Recently, together with other young scientists he has been establishing an Early Career Society within GEO AquaWatch. He is also involved in the Early Career working group of the Brazilian Association of Limnology (ABLimno) and is also involved in the European H2020 Project Water-ForCE which is developing a Roadmap for the future of Copernicus water products.
