Esther Makabe is a GEOGLAM Capacity Building Coordinator at GEO Secretariat. She has over 10 years in the Geospatial industry primarily focusing on climate change, food security, monitoring and evaluation, environmental risk assessment, emergency response and human security. Ms. Makabe holds an MSc. in Geography from Bonn & United Nations Universities. In different roles and capacities, Ms. Makabe has supported many organizations including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations - Somalia, United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UNSPIDER) - Bonn, United Nations World Food Programme - Asia and the Pacific, and the UN Climate (UNFCCC) - Bonn, among others. In her current role with the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) in Geneva, she coordinates the work around capacity strengthening in the use of Earth Observation for Agriculture and Food Security.
