Samuel is data analyst within the secretariat of the Intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEO), hosted by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in Geneva. A graduate of the Master's program in Environmental Sciences from the Institute of Environmental Sciences at the University of Geneva, he also holds a supplementary certificate in geomatics and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the Global Studies Institute at the University of Geneva, earned in 2017. His interests lie in environmental policies, climate change and impacts, as well as disaster risk reduction.

As part of his research, he particularly focused on the January 2018 avalanches in the Alps as extreme events, employing a dendrogeomorphological and geomatic approach. In 2019, he participated in the interdisciplinary expedition Changing Arctic - Yamal as part of the environmental research team. During this expedition, a combined geomatic and dendroclimatological approach was used to reconstruct the environmental evolution of a tundra region.
