Andrea Alessandri holds a PhD in Geophysics obtained in 2006 at the University of Bologna and is senior climate scientist at Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR). He has an interdisciplinary background and a wide experience in studying climate variability/change and prediction/predictability with particular focus on land surface-climate interactions. He is Chair of the Land and Vegetation Working Group in the EC-Earth consortium for the development of a European Earth system model. He believes that reliable observations of land variables are fundamental for achieving a new generation of integrated Earth system predictions and impact assessment for the society (http://proceed.isac.cnr.it/PROCEED).
