Taiwo Ogunwumi is a highly experienced GeoSpatial and Information Management Specialist who has worked with different International NGOs that provides humanitarian program support through emergence response. He recently worked as a Consultant to supports the Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector of the United Nations International Organization for Migration (UN-IOM) in its humanitarian programs to migrant and internally displace people in North-Eastern Nigeria, where he supported the IOM COVID 19 preparedness and responses in Northeastern Nigeria by contributing to the designing of maps, dashboard development, building and maintenance of relevant geospatial data infrastructure for the IOM Nigeria mission. Before joining UN-IOM, he had worked with Action Against Hunger (AAH) Nigeria as a Management Information System (MIS) and was responsible for the information database management of their WASH, Nutrition and Health programs and other rapid locational emergence mapping of vulnerable communities in North-Eastern Nigeria. He his also a member of the African Youth Advisory on Disaster Risk Reduction and also a contributing member of Openstreetmap. He had a bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He had many training and short courses on Disaster and Environmental management with renowned institutions such as UNITAR, UNEP, ESRI,UNOSAT and had numerous virtual summer course on Disaster management using Earth Observation technology, he is currently a masters student of Environmental Risk and Human Security at the United Nation University, Bonn Germany. He is very passionate about humanitarian activities, disaster risk reduction and sustainability.
Taiwo is a member of GEO DRR Working Group, supporting subgroup 2 and he is involved in Tasks 2.2 (Lead), 2.3 and 2.5.
