Nhilce Esquivel is a junior DRR manager and hydrologist working and developing projects related to Flood Risk Management, Hydraulic and Hydrological Modelling, GIS, Weather Data Analysis, Nature Based Solutions and Co-creation. Nhilce holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and an MSc in Water Science and Engineering with a major in Flood Risk Management awarded by UNESCO IHE (Institute for Water Education) and TU Dresden. She is a youth advocate collaborating with different NGOs and coordinating the Disaster Risk Reduction thematic group within Water Youth Network. Her interests lay in environmental resources preservation, water resources management, the inclusion of technologies for Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate change, Sustainable cities and Nature Based Solutions. Currently, Nhilce works as a research associate at SEI (Stockholm Environment Institute) collaborating on international projects. She has also worked for the National Water Commission in Mexico and collaborated with international agencies such as the UN, World Bank, NASA, etc.
Nhilce is Deputy Co-Chair of GEO DRR Working Group, supporting subgroup 2 and she is involved in Tasks 1.2 and 2.3.
