2026 GEO Symposium / GEO-21 Plenary Official Statement of Plan4all
Bridging Horizon Europe Results with GEO’s Global Vision
Plan4all is contributing to GEO through its long-standing work on open geospatial data, Earth Observation, interoperability, and community-driven innovation. Building on results from Horizon Europe projects such as BioClima, FAIR2Adapt, PLUS Change, trans4num, PoliRuralPlus, FOCAL, GoDigiBioS and other initiatives, Plan4all supports the transformation of complex environmental, climate, biodiversity, agricultural and territorial data into actionable knowledge.
A key part of this effort is the development and application of GeoAI approaches that combine Earth Observation, spatial data infrastructures, semantic interoperability and artificial intelligence to support better monitoring, modelling and decision-making. Through tools and platforms such as JackDaw, Plan4all aims to make advanced geospatial intelligence more accessible to researchers, public authorities, practitioners and communities.
Towards GEO, Plan4all’s ambition is not only to showcase individual project outcomes, but to connect them into a broader collaborative ecosystem. By linking Horizon Europe project results with global Earth Observation priorities, Plan4all and its members contribute to open, reusable and interoperable solutions that help address biodiversity loss, climate change, sustainable land use, rural and urban resilience, and evidence-based policy-making.
This contribution reflects Plan4all’s wider role in European research and innovation: promoting open data, developing digital infrastructures, supporting geospatial technologies, and building communities across sectors such as environment, agriculture, spatial planning and smart regions.
