Community Event - Urban Risks, Shared Data, Knowledge & Solutions: A Joint GEO Working Group Meeting (ODOK Session)

Description

In accordance with the decision made by the 26th GEO Programme Board (PB) Meeting in June 2023, GEO Working Groups (WGs) are tasked to coordinate annual workplans, identifying concrete outputs, as well as resource implications and leads among Co-chairs and members. As a part of the plans, in-person discussion has been taking place during the GEO events, including the GEO Week 2023 & Ministerial Summit in Cape Town, the 2024 GEO Symposium / ODOK in Hangzhou and the 2025 GEO Global Forum in Rome. To continue and build on this coordination from the previous 3 years, this community event brings together members of the GEO WG on Disaster Risk Reduction and Adaptation (DRRA), Resilient Cities and Human Settlements (RCHS) and Data and Knowledge (DK) as well as members of GEO community, especially GEO Work Programme activities to coordinate and create synergies across them to discuss and agree on joint tasks and deliverables.

This year, this joint WG meeting will seek to: advance convergence across GEO Working Groups and Work Programme activities by:

  • Presenting three concrete collaborative directions
  • Gathering feedback and contributions (in-person and online)
  • Identifying which ideas have sufficient traction to move forward
