Director General of IDEAM – Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies

Chemist and Master of Sciences, with a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Valle. She has an extensive career in teaching and research on climate change, air quality, and environmental governance.

She represents Colombia in key international arenas such as the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), where she contributes to the articulation of knowledge on climate, water, and environment. Her work strengthens regional cooperation, promotes data exchange and technical capacities, and positions Colombia’s priorities in global scientific agendas with impact on public policy.

In March 2026, she was decorated by the Senate of the Republic of Colombia with the Order of the Congress of Colombia – Knight Grade, in recognition of her contribution to environmental knowledge and her leadership in promoting a more inclusive science.
