Dr. Genki Terauchi is a Senior Researcher at the Northwest Pacific Region Environmental Cooperation Center (NPEC) in Japan. With over two decades of experience in earth observation and its coastal applications, he has been leading the marine remote sensing program of the Northwest Pacific Action Plan (NOWPAP), part of the UNEP Regional Seas Programme, since 2004.
He leads the development of the Global Eutrophication Watch, a web application that uses satellite-estimated chlorophyll-a concentrations to identify coastal eutrophication potential.
He earned his Ph.D. in satellite oceanography from Nagasaki University, where his research focused on the monitoring and assessment of coastal eutrophication using remotely sensed chlorophyll-a data.
