
Yuqi Bai
Biography
Yuqi Bai is a Full Professor of Earth and Space Informatics at the Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University. His research focuses mainly on spatial data infrastructure, with particular emphasis on its applications in land cover mapping and the interplay between wildfires and human health.
He has been an active participant in the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) since early 2005. In prior GEO capacities, he worked as Task Lead for the GEOSS Component and Service Registry, and served on the GEOSS Infrastructure Implementation Board, the GEOSS-EVOLVE initiative, and the GEO Post-2025 Strategy Working Group. Currently, Dr. Bai holds three concurrent roles within GEO: Co-Chair of the ExCom Rules of Procedure (RoP) Task Force, Co-Chair of the ExCom GEO Director’s Performance Evaluation Task Force, and Co-Chair of the GEOSS Infrastructure Development Task Team (GIDTT). He is also an alternate member of the GEO Programme Board.
Beyond his work with GEO, Dr. Bai is deeply engaged with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). He presently serves as Convenor of Working Group 7 under ISO/TC 211 (Geographic information/Geomatics).
