Naledzani Mudau

Biography

Naledzani is a remote sensing scientist at the South African National Space Agency (SANSA), leading research on human settlements, including informal settlements, and the development of Earth observation products and services. With over 15 years of experience in remote sensing and GIS, she has led major national initiatives such as the SPOT Building Count, National Human Settlements Layer, and National Informal Settlement Layer. She also led South Africa’s first national case study on using Earth observation data to support SDG 11.3.1 reporting for the country’s 2019 SDG Report.

She co-chairs the South Africa-GEO Human Settlements Working Group and AfriGEO Sustainable Urban Development and COVID-19 Working Groups, while contributing to EO4SDG and GEO Human Planet initiatives.
