A survey is being conducted to gather feedback from people interested in CEOS Information Systems. The objectives are to form a better understand how these resources are used, and to study possible future enhancements.

The Earth Observation Handbook http://www.eohandbook.com/ presents the main capabilities of satellite Earth observations, their applications and a systematic overview of present and planned CEOS agency Earth observation satellite missions and their instruments.

Special editions of the EO Handbook were prepared in support of climate information challenges, with a database of atmospheric, oceanic and terrestrial Essential Climate Variables that have a significant contribution from Satellite Earth observations; and disaster risk reduction, presenting how real-time monitoring from space of natural hazards such as cyclones, floods, drought and volcanoes provides us with reliable and actionable information that is end-user friendly for planners, technical experts, business, countries, farmers, air traffic for all of society.

The CEOS Missions, Instruments and Measurements database http://database.eohandbook.com/ includes information on those aspects of Earth observations and an overview of how satellites contribute to the Global Carbon Observing System. It is updated annually based on surveys like this one (last update October 2015). Applications include information sharing in support of future EO missions, instruments and measurements, EO gap analysis and connecting users and satellite agencies.

The CEOS Visualization Environment (COVE) http://www.ceos-cove.org/  is a browser-based suite of tools for searching analyzing and visualizing actual and potential satellite sensor coverage.

The CEOS Data Policy Portal http://www.ceos-datapolicy.org/ captures the data access policies of CEOS Mission and Instrument combinations in order to promote improved access to data and GEO data sharing principles.

The survey is open to all users of these services, and in particular to the GEO community. Click here to give your feedback and suggestions.

The final summary of results will be published before the end of 2016.

Information gathered will be used to guide future design and feature enhancement decisions for the EO Handbook, CEOS Database, COVE and CEOS Data Policy Portal.

The survey should only take a few minutes to complete, and your inputs will be very valuable in improving these community resources.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.
